The first time I experienced Watsu I was completely present. I didn't want to miss a thing and felt a sense of nervous excitement. I remained fully engaged, anticipating every move as I tried to measure what was happening to me.
I consciously wondered if I was doing it correctly. Where should my arms be? How are my legs supposed to glide? Are my earplugs in securely? What if my face goes under? Had it been fifteen minutes, or twenty? If my practitioner sensed any of this, she never showed it.
It was a rewarding enough experience for me to come back again. I soon began to receive more than I had imagined. By my third session, Watsu had changed for me in a profound way. I had grown far more relaxed in my practitioner's arms. I trusted her, as well as my earplugs and floats. I was able to relax in the water.
I was no longer consciously floating in a pool, but immersed in a gentle and comforting stillness. Floats and earplugs didn't matter anymore, for I had become the water. Time was irrelevant. Her arms had become the water, too, and I was safe in them. I let go... I slept... I dreamt... I healed... I felt reborn.

...my parents were thoroughly impressed as well. My dad asked me to thank you deeply for sending him the names of the Watsu practioners in Colorado! He LOVED his session, and is looking forward to hopefully continuing... I can tell you from experience that he is hard to impress, and you did it! I could tell that your professionalism and obvious knowledge gave him confidence in the legitimacy of this form of therapy - on our way home he talked the whole time about how beneficial this would be for a variety of conditions and how insurance companies should pay for it... etc. etc.!! Thank you again.

Hi Keo,
Thank you so much for coming to talk to my Stress Management class at
St. Leo. It was exciting to hear about such a range of modalities. The
topic of homeopathy sure took off, didn't it? The students very much
enjoyed your visit. I had never seen Watsu before. Despite our
technology challenges, the video sure offered these future practitioners
a vivid picture of how diverse populations can be served. You did such a
wonderful job speaking genuinely about how you integrate the range of
healing approaches into your everyday lifestyle...from yoga, to
exercise, to homeopathy, to massage. I think that psychologists can
sometimes become quite cognitive, but forget to take care of the whole
self. You conveyed this message so nicely.
I know you will touch countless people through the small group in my
class as they go out to work with others. I am most grateful for your
time and generosity!
Warmly,
Stephanie
My first session of Watsu with Keo was the most amazing body
experience I have ever had with body work. It was the most nurturing,
healing, relaxing and restorative body work I have ever had. It was
not just body work - it was also mind and spirit work without being
invasive or dramatic. Leaving the pool, I seemed to leave mental
anxiety washed away as well. Without the mental work going on, my
body actually had a chance to just "be" which is a blessed experience.
Thanks, Keo!
